Happy Holidays, everyone! I hope you’re enjoying the holiday season so far. Are you almost finished with your shopping and gift wrapping? There’s no doubt that gift cards continue to be a very popular gift. You can personalize a gift card by making an extra special, sparkly holder for it.
An empty Altoid tin is just big enough to snuggly hold a gift card. I took an empty tin, coated it with glitter, then added a ribbon, flower, tag and crystals. Here’s the finished product.
It’s pretty easy to make something like this. First, gather an empty Altoid tin, glitter, gesso (or paint that matches the color of the glitter you’re using), and decoupage glue like Mod Podge.
Apply a thin layer of paint to the outside of the tin to even out the color. Try to avoid painting the small rim where the lid overlaps the bottom edge so that you’ll be able to easily open and close the lid after it’s coated.
Once the paint is dry (which you can speed along with a heat gun or hair dryer), add a thin coat of decoupage glue. Again, try to avoid coating the small rim where the lid and bottom overlap. While the decoupage glue is still wet, sprinkle on the glitter and let dry. Optional: Add a second coat of decoupage glue afterwards to seal in the glitter.
Adhere embellishments and a stamped sentiment to the top of the glittered tin. Note: The adorable “Happiest of Holidays” stamped sentiment is one of the exclusive stamps included with the fabulous SCT Delivered Winter Kit!
Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today, dear SCT friends! I wish you a very happy holiday season, and hope you’re able to squeeze in some fun crafty time for yourself!

I love the idea of using an altoids box, its hinged lid keeps thing from going missing! Another use for that box, unglittered, in my snowy and cold climate, is to put 6 tea light candles inside it for a traveling 'heat kit' in emergencies. Add a BBQ lighter, and you will stay warm enough for 12 hours. Each tealite will burn for 2 hours, so you have heat and light. Add a bag of mini marshmallows and some toothpicks, and you can toast marshmallows over the flames! lol

Oh goodness, that tin is so pretty; without the second layer of decoupage I imagine the glitter would be spreading "joy" for a long time! The prizes today are phenomenal!!
