Scrapbook & Cards Today Blog: "12 Days of Holiday Giving!" DAY TEN!

Happy Holidays dear SCT friends! Emily here today for the final days of the 12 Days of Holiday Giving. Hasn't it been grand? The giveaways have been amazing!

My husband and I decided to shake up our lives this holiday season and pack up everything in our house to replace the flooring on two levels. Most of our life fits in the garage! I thought it would only take a couple of weeks, but we're just now getting moved back in 5 weeks later! I didn't think about my holiday decorations being inaccessible. Nor did I consider my crafting supplies would be packed! This left me in a pickle, but with the help of some lovely glitter paper from Doodlebug Designs, some baker's twine, and a couple of lengths of felt balls, I was able to create a Christmas-y garland for our living room mantel. Thank you Pinterest!

In the past, I'd always trusted my hand cutting skills. Now that I have a Silhouette, I always use it to cut out letters. My Silhouette was packed. :( Happily, I can still use scissors pretty well. I simply cut the 12x12 sheets into 4"x6" rectangles and eyeballed each letter (the W was cut from a 6"x6" piece) for one of my favorite holiday phrases. I'd kept out my Crop-a-dile from We R Memory Keepers and was able to punch the holes to hang the letters on the twine. I pulled some things from around the house that didn't get packed and made a nice mantelscape. It will work quite well until I find the Christmas boxes next week. I'm pretty sure I'll just be adding the stocking holders and maybe another few glittery things though, I really love how this turned out! I am going to make another garland with the leftover paper, perhaps a FA-LA-LA?
