Scrapbook & Cards Today Blog: 11th Birthday Celebration

Thank you for joining us for Day 7 of our 11^th birthday celebration! It almost seems surreal that we are celebrating this milestone when it feels like just last year we were celebrating our 1^st birthday. Well, maybe not just last year but friends, the time has gone so fast. From four issues a year when we started to 11 years later where we still have four inspiring issues a year but we’ve added a special card issue each year, a Creative Planner, 7 events across the country each year, quarterly seasonal kits, an online class platform and so much more on the way! Why has that happened? Because of you. Your support for all that we do has allowed us to grow from a team of 6 to a team of 20. Because of you we have readers in 120 countries. Because of you we get to work with the best manufacturers in the industry. Yes, because of you we are holding this celebration to say thank you to YOU!

On Day 7, we’re excited to feature design team member Stacy Cohen and a loot bag of prizes from Creative Memories, Your Next Stamp and We R Memory Keepers! Sounds fun right? Let’s get to it!

“Happy Birthday, SCT! Stacy Cohen here. I’m thrilled to be part of this wonderful celebration! In honor of SCT’s special event, I made a birthday card.

This background technique is a great way to use up scraps from those favorite papers you just can’t part with. To start, I punched circles from patterned paper scraps. I used a 1¼ inch circle punch, but slightly smaller or larger circles would work too. I adhered the circles to the front of the card in rows, starting from the bottom of the card. I placed the circles so that they were overlapping each other and hanging off the edges of the card front.

I continued layering the rows of circles until the entire card front was covered.

Next I turned it over and trimmed off the excess paper hanging over the edges.

I turned it back over and was ready to decorate my card!

Supplies used: Cardstock and rub-on: Bazzill Basics; Patterned paper: My Mind’s Eye; Dies: Avery Elle and Cottage Cutz; Other: Ribbon and pearls.
