Howdy everyone! I’m back…. :)
It’s Layle Koncar - think ‘Gayle’, with an ‘L’ - Director of Marketing for Simple Stories/Carpe Diem. I’m so excited to be here with you again this month sharing parts of the June & July set up in my A5 Carpe Diem planner.
For the summer I switched to the Coral planner – the bright color was a perfect match for our Summer Days collection! I’m sharing a few pics of it here, you can see more from my post earlier this month on the Simple Stories blog.
I love the bright & sunny colors of Summer Days, it’s like a little dose of sunshine each day when I open my planner!
I’ve added a few things to my planner since I set it up in late May that I thought would be fun to share with you guys.
The Carpe Diem Boxed Sets and the weekly & daily inserts all include a ‘month in review’ page for each month.
It’s a great place to include birthdays, Don’t Forgets, and other things, right at your fingertips. I add this page directly after the monthly spread in my planner each month.
I use bookmarks in several different places to help easily identify places I visit frequently in my planner – the current day, to do lists, projects, etc. This month I made my own bookmark with a piece of clear acetate & some handy dandy tools.
I started with a 12x2 sheet of clear acetate and used an existing bookmark to trim it to size, round the corners & punch the holes. From there I took one of the Carpe Diem Planner Decals and adhered to the center of the bookmark. For those of you that have been around the scrapbooking world for a while, they’re kind of like a giant rub-on! A few more stickers to finish it off at the top and voila – a custom bookmark.
One of the things I love to make to personalize my planner are dashboards. Sometimes they’re as simple as a vertical 4x6 photo or card just punched & inserted; other times I like to get a little bit more creative like with this pocket page.
I mixed different embellishments from the Summer Days collection along with some fun sequins and in the pockets they went. From there I used the Fuse from We R Memory Keepers to seal up the pockets so the pieces wouldn’t fall out.
The pocket pages are designed for our 6x8 SN@P! Binders; the 2 holes on the pocket pages line up exactly with the top & bottom middle rings in standard A5 sized planners, so I just needed to punch the additional holes and it fit right in :)
As June is coming to a close, I’m getting bit of a jump start on July. Since the first week includes the 4th, I of course went with a patriotic theme for the 4th of July.
I added strips of gold foil striped washi to both pages of the weekly spread to give it a little more flair. Our A5 Punch makes it so easy to do things like that and just repunch the holes.
For July I’ve moved out of the Coral planner, into the Black Speckle design that we introduced in March. Those polka dots, tho! The original, 1st edition Carpe Diem planners with the interior black & white polka dots were such a popular design that we knew we just had to reintroduce it, but in an exciting new way.
Thanks so much for letting me share some of the fun additions to my June set up and the start of July with you. You’ll find me on Instagram here at @laylekoncar; keep an eye out on Instagram for the rest of my July set up!
I’ll see you back here again in a few months. Enjoy the rest of your summer!
~ Layle
