2017 Summer Fun Call

Scrapbook & Cards Today magazine is the leading paper craft publication and read in 120 countries. Now’s your chance to see your work, name, and photographs of the ones you love on the pages of this top-notch magazine. We are pleased to announce our 2017 Summer Fun call for submissions. Read on to see how you can go about sending your best designs for consideration in our Summer 2017 issue!

What We Want

1. Projects to include in our popular Inspiration Gallery column, including: 

• single page scrapbook pages
• double-page scrapbook pages
• pocket scrapbook pages (ie. Project Life)
• cards
• other paper craft projects

Themes for this issue include:

• Father’s Day
• time at the beach
• summer celebrations
• graduation
• poolside fun
• camping
• Canada Day or 4th of July celebrations
• wedding
• vacation
• basically anything summer related!

Here’s what catches our eye at Scrapbook & Cards Today:

• well-balanced double page layouts
• multi-photo single page layouts
• journaling (in a large enough font that it will show up when sized down for print)
• innovative card designs

2. Projects to include in our Sketch Savvy column

Scrapbook & Cards Today’s sketches are always inspiring and this one is no exception.  Download the sketch at http://www.scrapbookandcards.com/images/SCTSU17_online_call.jpg, use it to create a scrapbook page and then submit it to us for possible publication. We encourage you to be creative with this sketch. Play with embellishments, mix up patterned papers, flip it, or copy the design exactly — it's simply a blueprint to get your ideas flowing! This is for our summer issue, so we ask that you keep seasonality in mind (as outlined in the themes above) when creating.

Call Details:

All submissions, including submissions for the sketch call, can be emailed to [email protected]. Please include your name, address, phone number and a detailed supply list.  Also, please ensure that all files sent are less than 1mb.

Compensation includes a fabulous box of product from our friends at Simple Stories, Lawn Fawn and Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L plus a copy of this issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today! You will receive the product and issue when your project is returned to you. We look forward to seeing your work!

Close To My Heart giveaway!

Good morning SCT friends and happy Friday! And a happy Friday it is!  It has been a HUGE week around the SCT offices with the arrival of the brand new spring issue!  In three days and with the help of a lot of hands, we shipped out the beautiful Blossoms & Breezes spring kits (sold out in record time!), all the spring issue contributor goody boxes (ohhhhh, they're so good!), packed all our team's artwork (wait until you see their work in this issue!) and sent copies of the spring issue to readers all around the world.  We could not be more excited to share this issue with you on March 20!

A Monday reader's challenge...playing with ombre!

Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian friends!  It's a time to be thankful and a time to put your turkey pants on (who is remembering Joey from "Friends" right now?)!  May you all enjoy the goodness this weekend brings!

Did you check out all our World Cardmaking Day fun on the blog on Saturday?  With hourly posts spanning 14 hours we had a great time showcasing inspiration from our designers, offering up some challenges and of course there were prizes too!  Our designers did some fabulous work and our sponsors offered up some amazing prizes.  If you missed it, just start here! 

This morning we would love to offer up another challenge...playing with ombre.  Ombre means shaded or graduated in tone.  It has been seen in hair, fashion, home decor and is now showing up in papercrafting!  Here is a sweet example (heehee!) of ombre...

So today we have a great Monday challenge for you!  Use ombre in either a card or layout and share it with us by either linking it here or by sending it to us at [email protected]!  If you send it to us by Wednesday morning at 8:00 a.m. EST we'll share a few right here!  Oh and our design team has played along too so we'll showcase their cards on Wednesday as well.

Scrapbook & Cards Today is pleased to announce its “fun summer 2011” call.  Scrapbook & Cards Today is a beautiful, seasonally-inspired free publication that can be found in both Canadian and US independent scrapbook stores.  It can also be downloaded internationally, in its entirety and for free, by visiting www.scrapbookandcards.com.

Scrapbook & Cards Today would love to see your artwork—including layouts, cards, and altered projects with the following themes: 

wedding

We are looking for pages that showcase this ultimate celebration of love! Send in your pages reflecting any part of this special day—from the planning and the preparation, to the parties and showers, and of course, to the day itself.

Becky Fleck’s sketches are always inspiring and this one is no exception.  Download the sketch here, use it to create a scrapbook page and then submit it to us for possible publication. Pages that simplify the sketch will definitely catch our eye!

We are looking for your most inspiring cards that use a summer colour palette. Cards can be of any theme (graduation, birthday, thank-you, get well, etc) and can reflect your own personal style—be it simple, or a little more intricate.

Share your tips and tricks with us so that you can help others in the same situation—most of us have had disastrous scrap areas at one point or other, haven’t we?  Photos, as well as written tips or submissions, are welcome.

As the snow flies...the spring call releases!

The amazing part about publishing is that it is like fashion, you are always working months ahead of schedule.  As we watch the snow start to fly here in Toronto (and many inches on the ground where Becky is in Montana), we are moving on to spring and would LOVE to see your work!  Here is our "spectacular spring" call for submissions:

Do you love the freshness of spring?  We are searching for the freshest scrapbook pages that showcase all that is wonderful about spring.  This could include spring flowers and festivities, Easter holidays, spring break, families, and more. 

PageMaps call
Becky Fleck’s sketches are always inspiring and this one is no exception.  Download the sketch, use it to create a scrapbook page and then submit it to us for possible publication. Pages that flip or rotate the sketch will definitely catch our eye!

We are looking for your most inspiring cards that use a spring colour palette. Cards can be any theme (Easter, birthdays, thank-you, get well, etc) and can be fancy or simple.

You’re invited...to submit your most creative party invitations that is!  Themes can include, but are not limited to, weddings, BBQs, girl’s night out, baby showers, birthdays, and more.

Are you perfectly organized or have you found a way that helps reign in all of your scrapbooking supplies?  Share your tips and tricks with us so that we can share them with our readers.  Photos and written submissions are welcome.

mom’s & dad’s
We are on the lookout for ways to celebrate moms and dads.  This can be through a card, scrapbook page or even an altered art piece.  Show us what makes your parents special or what parenthood means to you.  Pieces can be from the viewpoint of a child or an adult.

something special
We are always on the lookout for a “special” project to feature in our “something special” column.  If you have created something outstanding, be sure to submit it for us to see.
Scrapbook & Cards Today is also looking for:

• unique teacher gifts
