Stampin' Up! Inspiration Saturday

Hello papercrafters!  It’s Dani Dziama and Mindy Bingamon here and we’re members of the 2017 Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team.  We’ve partnered up and are super excited to be your guest bloggers for today.  As September is the unofficial start of fall (or at least we think so), we’re bringing you some fall flair with brand new Stampin’ Up products.  We’ve used the Painted Harvest Stamp Set and coordinating Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper to create some fabulous fall projects!

This stamp set is pretty gorgeous on it’s own, but we wanted to really showcase the paper and the beautiful images that can be cut out and used as your focal point.

We’ll take a look at Dani’s projects first. 

"When I first saw Painted Autumn Product Suite in the new Holiday Catalog, I absolutely had to have it! Everything about it is spectacular! Sunflowers are my favorite so naturally they were the inspiration for my projects today.

For the card- I chose to create something simple. I wanted to show that YES! you can create a beautiful card based solely on images found in the Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper. Add a few embellishments like Pool Party Solid Baker’s Twine and its good to go! 

For my second project, I created a few Thanksgiving table favors that double as place cards. Each Mini Pizza Box has a belly-band which is easily removed to allow access to the contents of the box. It’s still a little early for the treats, so I plan to fill these a little later with a turkey shaped sugar cookie (Yumm!)"

Now let's look at what Mindy created!

"I wanted to keep my projects simple so that they are easy to duplicate and the focus is on those gorgeous images from the Designer Series Paper. I know some people are put off by fussy cutting but these are really easy and quick to cut out.  Don’t be afraid and break out those paper snips! I also based both cards off the same basic sketch to show that you can get a totally different look from the same layout!

I thought the sunflowers would look fantastic with the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack .

Some Crushed Curry ⅜” Stitched Satin Ribbon and Linen Thread really tied the rich colors together nicely.

I then had to cut out some of these gorgeous pumpkins!  I love pumpkins!  Every year we go to a huge pumpkin patch that has all sorts of heirloom and funky colored pumpkins.  My favorites are always the white ones and pale blue ones, which this DSP totally reminds me of!  I think an all-white background really puts the spotlight on the image!

To add a little bit of interest, I used our Embossing Paste with our Pattern Party Decorative Masks for some texture.  You can add color but I think it looks really stunning as is on white cardstock.

I realized I don’t own any Soft Sky ribbon but some Pool Party ⅜” Shimmer Ribbon came to the rescue!  Our shimmer ribbons are so pretty and I think that the Pool Party works just as well as Soft Sky would have for this project.  For the finishing touch, I added a couple of little curly tendrils cut out of Crumb Cake Cardstock with the Patterned Pumpkins Thinlit Dies.

Partner Celebration & Stampin' Up! Inspiration Saturday!

We love when our friends at Stampin' Up! join us each month and it's even more special when it's during our Partner Celebration! Stampin' Up! has been a large supporter of all the we do here at SCT for the past 10 years. Today they have invited one of their team members to share some beautiful projects and of course, a giveaway!

"Hello there, my name is Katy Harrison and I’m a Stampin’ Up! Artisan based in the Yorkshire dales in the UK. I have been cardmaking for 10 years and I love stamping!

Today I wanted to share with you projects I made using the Wood Words Stamp Set and the Wood Crate Framelits Dies. Both are brand new products in the new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue and I knew I ‘had’ to have them! They are the perfect duo for gift giving but also versatile enough for every day.

For the card, I wanted to create something quite feminine. I adore the look of white embossing on to a neutral colour and Crumb Cake Cardstock is my go to neutral. I stamped the floral image from the Wood Words Stamp Set twice on to Crumb Cake Cardstock using VersaMark^® pad, sprinkled with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and set with a Heat Tool. I coloured some of the flowers with the white pencil in the Watercolor Pencils I glued this layer down on to my card base with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

Next, I took a strip of Soft Sky Cardstock, inked up the Diagonal Stripe Stamp with Pool Party Classic Stampin’ Pad and stamped the stripes on to this piece of cardstock, this was attached to the first layer, setting it just above midway.

Then with a narrower strip of Whisper White Cardstock I stamped the “Hello Friend” sentiment and added a little detail using the floral image, all stamped with Crumb Cake Classic Stampin’ Pad.

I decided to layer the sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals, this made it a little easier to attach the blue floral heart with Whisper White Solid Baker’s Twine. To make the heart I used the solid heart stamp, inked with Pool Party Classic Stampin’ Pad and stamped on to Soft Sky Cardstock. I then used the heart shape in the Wood Crate Framelits Dies and then stamped the floral image just on the edges of the heart with VersaMark^® and embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

Now, onto the wood crate! I can see so much potential for this Framelit set, especially at the busiest gift-giving season, Christmas. But really anything you want to add a little rustic charm to!

This crate is so easy to make! Die cut two of the crate dies in Crumb Cake Cardstock and then stamp the Hardwood Background stamp, again using VersaMark^® and embossing with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Fold and score all the score lines (the framelit creates the score lines for you, super easy!) then glue together to create your crate. I popped a little biscuit treat in there, I mean who doesn’t like biscuits right?

To finish off, I made a tag using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch. I folded the tag in half and attached by threading one end of the tag through the bottom slit of the crate. I die cut another heart, this time from Whisper White Cardstock and stamped the sentiment on to this using Crumb Cake Classic Stampin’ Pad. I tied the tag and heart together with Whisper White Solid Baker’s Twine.

Stampin' Up! Inspiration Saturday!

Hello friends - thank you so much for joining me today!  My name is Shannon Lane, and I’m a member of the 2017 Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team.  I’m thrilled to be guest-blogging with SCT today, and so excited to share one of my favourite new stamp sets - Message In A Bottle - and some beautiful new Designer Series Paper (DSP), called Naturally Eclectic. 

My son was recently invited to an end-of-school pool party, and it’s been all he could talk about for a week - when I sat down to create this project, that pool party was on my mind and this sweet stamp set was a perfect fit.  How cute and easy would it be to use Message In A Bottle to create an invitation and some party decor for a summer party?

We needed an invitation to start, of course.  I cut up a piece of the gorgeous Naturally Eclectic DSP for this beautiful faux-watercolour background.  It reminds me of the sea, so a frosted glass bottle and some whales came along for the ride. 

Party favours are fun - these adorable Clear Tiny Treat Boxes from Stampin’ Up! are quickly and easily embellished to fit the theme using DSP, ribbon, and stamped images - don’t you love that little octopus?

And you know what they say - a party without cake is just a meeting!  Cupcakes are extra special with a mermaid topper.  I love that I can create mermaids of different hair and skin tones using my Stampin’ Up! Classic Stampin’ Pads and a Blender Pen.  Wouldn’t it be adorable to match the mermaids to the birthday girl, or create one to look like each of her friends?

Stampin' Up! Inspiration Saturday!

Hello everyone!  My name is Holly Stene and I'm an independent demonstrator with Stampin' Up!  I currently live in Minnesota (moving to Texas in 3 weeks!) and I'm pairing up today with my good friend Cathy Caines for the Stampin' Up! Saturday highlight.  This post is a little longer than normal - but we have a great collaboration of projects for you!  We are showcasing the Guy Greetings stamp set from Stampin' Up! - with plenty of time to prep for Father's Day!

I love making goodies and treats for friends and family and decided for my father-in-law, I would create a little box of peanuts.  I created this clear box using the Gift Bag Punch Board and Window Sheets.  The Window Sheet scored pretty easily, but a Bone Folder really helped get the creases perfect.  I added some Wood Textures Designer Series Paper in the inside to add a little more detail. 

I added Tranquil Tide 1/2" Finely Woven Ribbon and Linen Thread to keep the box closed.  The sentiment is from Guy Greetings and stamped over a Dapper Denim watercolor look I made using an Aqua Painter.

For the card, I added the tools stamp and "righty-tighty, lefty loosey" sentiment on the background using Crumb Cake Ink.  I added another strip of the Wood Textures DSP, some Eastern Palace Designer Series Paper and the same ribbons as the box.  The tools are stamped on a circle I cut using the Stitched Shapes Framelits - again with the same watercolor look.  Some splatter and Dapper Denim Enamel Shapes and the card is finished. 

 

Now you can see the amazing projects Cathy has come up for you with the Guy Greetings stamp set.

 “Aw, Holly.  She’s such a treat and ridiculously talented!” It’s Cathy Caines from Newfoundland, Canada and I am so excited to show you a couple more ways to use the Guy Greetings stamp set.

I started out with creating an upside down, inside out tri-fold masculine card. And yes, that’s my own language. This little cutie is held together with a neat library clip at the top.  The label was created using the Stitched Shapes Framelits and a quick stamp. To bring the card together I used the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper and some 5/8” burlap ribbon.

On the inside of this card, I stamped the “Happy Father’s Day”.  However, I layered the bottom and top flaps with matching Wooden Textures Designer Series Paper to bring it all together. 

 

My second project is a quick card that can be used for a Father’s Day card but also for a congratulations card.  Since this is the time of year that many people graduate it was a great chance to show you an alternative.

Lately I’ve been consistently using ribbons and trims as a layer on my projects; however, its rarely a traditional bow.  Instead, I have been using the trims and ribbons as if it’s washi tape or another paper layer.  Sometimes it can be tricky to find the proper adhesives to keep everything in place.  One trick that I always follow is to staple multiple layers together and then hide the staple with an embellishment or top layer.  It’s makes life so easy… and well, I love ‘easy’.

Stampin' Up! Inspiration Saturday!

Hello crafty friends! I’m Rochelle Blok, a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator and 2017 Artisan Design Team member from Melbourne, Australia. I’m so excited to share some gorgeous projects with you this month that could be used for Mother’s Day coming up or for any special ladies in your life using the beautiful Dragonfly Dreams Photopolymer Stamp Set and the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies.

Fans of Stampin’ Up! will have seen these gorgeous products for a little bit now as they were released in January 2017. The suite is very versatile—you can use them for home décor, cards or even accents to gift boxes like I have done today.

I’ve kept the color combination for all my projects today all the same using Blushing Bride, Whisper White, Silver and some touches of the neutral color, Sahara Sand.

I started out first with the frame for a beautiful home décor piece. Due to all the elements in the frame being quite bulky and lots of layers I took out the glass but if you wanted to have the glass in you would need to find a frame that has a bit more depth to it that is more suitable to these sorts of home décor pieces. I’m sure you could find something at your local craft supply store.

I just cut down a piece of Blushing Bride Cardstock to fit as the back panel and then I used the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits to die cut out some of the Dragonflies. I did brush over with Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush on these dragonfly pieces and although it’s really hard to see in the photograph, it sure adds a nice subtle sparkle and shimmer. 

I’ve then layered some Shimmery White Cardstock for the center panel piece, keeping with that subtle shimmer look, and added some heat embossing at the bottom of the panel with some more dragonflies and Silver Metallic Thread. The sentiment also comes from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set. I think your mum or a really close friend would really love a handmade gift that you’ve poured your heart into. Handmade gifts speak from the heart.

I’ve then made two cards with this set both with a very different feel to each other. The first one is using a watercolor wash background.  Again as with the frame I’ve started with the Blushing Bride Cardstock as the base. I’ve then used Blushing Bride Classic Stampin’ Pad with an Aqua Painters on Shimmery White Cardstock for a gorgeous watercolor wash. Did you know that you can watercolor on the Shimmery White Cardstock? If not, now you do. It has a slight coating over it and holds a little bit of water. Not as much as watercolor paper but enough to do things like washes and watercoloring images. And because it has that subtle shimmer it makes for gorgeous washed layers and colored images.

I’ve layered some of the Detailed Dragonfly die cuts over the wash. Again I’ve used the ‘spotty’ image to heat emboss but this time I’ve used Vellum so it makes it easier to see. Once the Whisper White Stampin’ Emboss Powder was set, I cut out the circle die using the Stitched Shapes Framelits.

All finished off with an embossed and watercolored dragonfly as well as some Silver Metallic Thread and some 5/8” Burlap Ribbon.

The next card uses a lot of the same elements as the home décor piece but just on a smaller scale. Again Blushing Bride Cardstock is the base and then on that I’ve used Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder for a tone on tone look on the card base and then I’ve used Whisper White Stampin’ Emboss Powder down the side of the Shimmery White panel. I also used the Whisper White Stampin’ Emboss powder on the gorgeous dragonfly in the middle as well as the sentiment for a coordinated and cohesive look.

Again finished off silver elements – Silver Metallic Thread and Silver Glimmer Paper.  I normally love Gold embellishments in my projects but the silver the creations today with the Blushing Bride is a beautiful look.

The last of my projects today is some super cute little gift boxes using the Clear Tiny Treat Boxes. These little boxes sure are tiny measuring 5.1 x 5.1 x 5.1cm (2”). They are just clear acetate and you can fill them up with treats and add a personal flourish for that special occasion.  I’ve actually made these to give to all the mums that will be coming to my place for lunch on Mother’s Day as a little treat to make the day a bit more special.

I’ve started with making the vellum insert. I just cut a piece of vellum 5cm x 21 cm and then scored the vellum every 5cm. There will be a 1cm flap at the end so you can adhere the vellum together to insert in the treat box. Again I’ve used the spotty image along the edge of the vellum and heat embossed it with Whisper White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Then I’ve just kept it quite simple on the front with a banner piece of Blushing Bride, Sliver Metallic Thread and a dragonfly die cut out of Silver Glimmer paper.

I do hope I’ve given you some inspiration with the stunning stamp set and thinlit dies.  Why not show your loved ones how much you love them by hand making your gifts for their next celebration?

Stampin' Up! Inspiration Saturday!

Hello friends! I’m Jennifer, a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator and 2017 Artisan Design team member from New Jersey. I am excited to share some fun projects with you this month.

I had some cute pictures of my kids that I wanted to frame. So instead of simply putting them in a frame, I wanted to jazz them up a little bit. I knew that Project Life would be perfect for this! The kit that I used was the Hello Lovely Project Life Card Collection and the Hello Lovely Project Life Accessory Pack. The colors in this kit are fabulous!

Both of these scrapbook pages are 8 x 10 so they will fit nicely in a frame. I am not much of a scrapbooker but I like to make single pages that I can frame (my house is full of gallery walls)! The Project Life kits make this so easy since everything coordinates and the embellishments give it that extra touch.

For this page of my daughter, I used several of the cards from the Hello Lovely Project Life Card Collection. I layered them on top of Peekaboo Peach cardstock. If you notice on the top and bottom corner, I also used one of the sayings from the All Things Thanks stamp set. It’s great to be able to combine stamping with scrapbooking. A fun little touch was using one of the acetate specialty cards as an overlay for the picture. You can see below where I lifted it up.

Then the finishing touches were some sequins and other embellishments from the Hello Lovely Project Life Accessory Pack. I also added a pretty bow using Whisper White Thick Baker’s Twine.

For my son’s page, I again used several of the cards. This time I took two of the black and white crosses cards and two of the stripe cards to cover more of the Pool Party cardstock. By gluing them next to each other they each look like one big card. I added some stamping on this page as well with the All Things Thanks stamp set. The finishing touches were more embellishments from the Hello Lovely Project Life Accessory Pack.

Since I was really enjoying this kit, I wanted to make cards as well since card making is what I do most. This kit is great for cards because you just need a few extra items to make some beautiful cards.

For all of the cards I used the All Things Thanks stamp set and the stamps included in the Hello Lovely Project Life Accessory Pack. All the cards used Pool Party cardstock as the base.

For this card, I used the super pretty floral card in the background and layered another smaller card on top. The middle layer is actually the part that I cut off from the black floral card. Since the Project Life cards are 4 x 6, they are a little too long for my cards. So I reused that extra ¾ of an inch piece in the center of the card. Can’t let anything go to waste!! I stamped the sentiment on Peekaboo Peach cardstock that was die cut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies. I added more embellishments and a bow with Basic Black Solid Baker’s Twine.

This card uses many of the same techniques that I used on the first card. Since there are so many fun patterned cards to choose from, each card looks different but uses many of the same techniques to put it together. This makes card making super simple!!

For the final card, I again used several of the cards from the kit. The So Sweet card is found in the Accessory Pack. How cute it that! The “hello” stamp is found in the accessory pack. Since the full stamp says “Hello Lovely” and I only wanted to use hello, I used my Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker to only color “hello” to stamp, so I colored just the word with marker. I did this same technique with “you’re”. This word comes from the All Things Thanks stamp set. I finished it off with some sequins and a pretty bow.
